Abstract

Teaching of economic and managerial disciplines narrowly focused on the use in a particular type of industry enables students of technical universities to acquire an economic-managerial extension. The article analyzes the situation in the area of sector economics in selected countries of Western Europe. It seems that the offer of managerial studies at technical universities is the most common in Germany, especially at the Technical University of Munich. This university offers, among other bachelor's and master's programs, also the program Management and Technology. In Austria, Switzerland or the Netherlands, the offer at technical universities is mostly limited to isolated managerial and economic subjects. In France, it is more common for multi-disciplinary educated managers to get a technically oriented master's degree at a university and then continue an abridged managerial education. Technically educated professionals with managerial skills, being prepared particularly by the German universities, are demanded in the labor market.
