Abstract

Turmeric, Indian saffron, is being used for at least 4000 years. It is a well known medicinal drug and spice. Curcumin, the its main component, has vast biological activity, i.a. as an antibacterial, antidiabetic, hypocholesteromic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, neuroprotective, and even anticancer agent.
